Fly into Managua International Airport (MGA), Nicaragua’s capital. The ride from Managua to Redonda Bay is about 2.5 hours and we can organize airport transfers on your behalf, just shoot us a note! Alternatively you can also fly into Liberia, Costa Rica and travel overland from Liberia, across the border into Nicaragua. That trip takes about 3 hours plus the border crossing time.
How fast is the internet?
When working, the internet is fast and has the capacity for video calls. There is no back up power system at Casa Sirena. The power does go out occassionally in Nicaragua. When the power is out, the internet will be off.
What’s it like staying in the jungle?
You will enjoy the sounds of the ocean waves and howler monkies passing by, at Casa Sirena. Since you are in the jungle there are also other jungle creatures like anteaters and raccoons that occasionally come by for a visit. Please keep all food off the countertops and leave food in the cupboard or the fridge. Please close all the windows and doors in the evening (especially in the kitchen) and you will keep any jungle visitors out of the house :).
What can I do in the area?
Casa Sirena is located in Redonda Bay. We share a bay with the Aqua Wellness Resort, a beautiful beach you can swim and snorkel at, with a cute beach bar and restaurant on the sand. Check out Aqua for a sunset meal.
You can also order delivery from Aqua’s restaurant, the delivery fee is $10.
Be sure to check out the neighbouring fishing village of Playa Gigante. Playa Gigante is a traditional Nicaraguan fishing town. Grab a whole, fresh red snapper meal at Dona Lin’s or the Blue Sol, buy fresh fish from an acopio to cook at the house and soak in all the local culture and sounds of the town. If you have an adventerous spirit and a bit of time (45 minutes there and back), take a hike up the Giants Foot at sunset and take in the views!
Do I need a rental car?
You will probably want a rental vehicle to drive into Redonda Bay and have the opportunity to explore the surrounding area. Send us an email and we can help you organize a rental car through a local company!
What if I need something onsite?
Our property manager and guest services person is Gerald. He will be onsite for any emergency or to help you organize anything that you need!
